About the Journal
“Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” is a professional nationwide scientific, practical and methodological legal publication that contributes to the fulfilment of one of the main statutory objectives of the National School of Judges of Ukraine – providing scientific and methodological support for judicial education, the activities of the courts, the High Council of Justice, and the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (Article 105 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges”).
The magazine “Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” stands out among a range of other professional legal publications as it covers issues relating to the work of the courts, matters of justice, and best practices in the Ukrainian judicial system.
The publication’s purpose
The purpose of the «Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine» journal is to publish articles, reviews and overviews on topical issues that will contribute to the academic and methodological support of judicial education and the professional activities of judges and judicial system staff by disseminating up-to-date academic and practical knowledge in the field of justice, highlighting current trends in the development of legislation and judicial practice, as well as promoting the principle of the rule of law and improving the quality of the administration of justice in Ukraine.
The journal's objectives
⮚ providing academic and methodological support for the training of judges and the professional activities of judges and other members of the judicial system;
⮚ highlighting current issues relating to the functioning of the courts and the administration of justice in Ukraine;
⮚ disseminating best practices in the Ukrainian judicial system and international experience, in particular the case law of the European Court of Human Rights;
⮚ providing information on legislative developments and trends in the development of legal practice;
⮚ publishing the results of academic research and academic and practical developments in the field of law;
⮚ providing expert explanations and advice on the application of judicial standards;
⮚ meeting the informational and professional needs of the judiciary, court staff and the legal community;
⮚ promoting the development of legal scholarship and the training of academic staff through the publication of the results of doctoral research;
⮚ highlighting the activities of the National School of Judges of Ukraine and its role in shaping the professional competence of judges;
⮚ providing a platform for professional dialogue between judges, academics and practising lawyers.
The journal ‘Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine’ was granted the status of a professional publication in 2014. By Order No. 1081 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 29 September 2014, the national scientific, practical and methodological legal publication “Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” was included in the List of scientific professional publications of Ukraine in which the results of dissertations for the degrees of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences may be published.
For the second time, the journal “Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” has confirmed its compliance with high professional standards, successfully completed re-registration and, in accordance with Order No. 627 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 14 May 2020, has been included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine (category “B”).
The journal “Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” publishes academic and practical articles, a variety of information on issues, events and specific aspects of court operations, the judiciary and court staff, and provides its readers with expert advice based on an analysis of compliance with judicial standards in Ukraine and worldwide.
The target readership of the journal “Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine” includes: candidates for the position of judge, judges, staff of court administrations, the Judicial Security Service, the High Council of Justice, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, prosecutors, solicitors, practising lawyers, academics, lecturers, students of higher education law schools, as well as individuals with a professional interest in the development of justice and the improvement of judicial proceedings.
Publication status: a specialist quarterly national scientific-practical and scientific-methodological legal publication.
