Preventing and Combating Plagiarism
The editorial board of the journal «Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine» hereby informs authors that they bear full personal responsibility for any improper borrowing or use of others’ research findings and for adhering to the ethics of scholarly citation. Only original materials that have not been previously published will be accepted for publication. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or text borrowings without references to the original source will not be considered by the editorial board until the deficiencies are corrected, or will be rejected permanently.
Authors must ensure:
• the originality of the submitted articles, i.e., materials that have not been published in other publications in any language;
• the absence of plagiarism;
• correct citations of sources used.
The journal «Slovo of the National School of Judges of Ukraine» uses the Plag.com.ua and Plagiarisma systems to monitor and detect text borrowing in submitted manuscripts. The percentage of plagiarism is calculated using software that checks documents for borrowings both in a local database and on the Internet. The resulting report is analyzed by the editorial board.
The journal’s editorial board reviews all cases of detected plagiarism and reserves the right to exclude a manuscript from the peer-review process. Scientific articles submitted to the journal are evaluated based on the following criteria:
- if the manuscript’s text has an originality score of over 80%—the manuscript is accepted for review;
- if the originality of the manuscript text is between 60% and 80% – the scientific work is returned to the authors for revision with a recommendation to review the text borrowings and resubmit the article in a corrected document;
- less than 60% – the manuscript is not accepted for consideration.
Plagiarism in all forms is unacceptable and is considered a manifestation of unethical conduct and a violation of academic integrity.
